Course Fees and Remission

Students will not pay tuition fees* if enrolling onto:

  • Maths/English GCSE or Functional Skills Entry to Level 2 if you do not already hold a C/4 or above
  • ESFA and 19+ if living in the WMCA and earning less than £32000 (gross per annum) or unemployed
  • ESFA and 19+ if living outside the WMCA and earning less than £25000 (gross per annum) or unemployed
  • Your First Full Level 2 and 19-23-year-olds
  • Your First Full Level 3 and 19-23-year-olds
  • Your First Full Level 3 and 24+ if earning less than £32000 (gross per annum) or unemployed and live in the WMCA

Some adults enrolling onto a level 3 course which is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ offer who have not already achieved a full level 3 or who do already have a full level 3 but are unemployed or on a low wage will be fully funded and entitled to fee remission.

If you are enrolling onto a qualifying level 3 or 4 course and not eligible for full funding, you can apply for an Advanced Learning loan from the government to cover the cost of your fees.

Tailored Learning, we will fully fund* 19+ learners are:

  • In receipt of an income-based benefit
  • In receipt of JSA/ESA
  • In receipt of UC

* Students must meet the residency criteria in the Adult skills fund: funding rules 2024 to 2025.

Learner Support Fund

Many of our learners receive support towards the cost of travel, essential equipment, materials and trips and childcare via our Learner Support Fund.

If you have a gross household income of less than £35,000 (for priority 1) or £35,000-£40,000 (for priority 2) you may be eligible for support.

To apply you must meet the criteria below.

  • Enrolled on a Further Education course (Apprenticeships programmes, or any waged training, Higher Education and Full Cost courses are not eligible)
  • Must satisfy the residency criteria set out in the AEB funding rules 2024 to 2025
  • Have a gross household income of less than £35,000 (for priority 1) or £35,000-£40,000 (for priority 2)
  • You cannot apply for financial support for a qualification at a lower level than you already have achieved previously.

You should apply as soon as possible as funds are allocated on a first come first serve basis. Subject to demand funding will be available for September, January and April enrolments. You cannot apply for Student Financial Support after your course has finished.

Childcare Funding

Childcare funding depends on your age, whether you are under 20 or 20 and over.

Under 20

If you are parent under the age of 20 at the start of your course you may be entitled to funding from Care to Learn towards the cost of childcare. The link below will provide you with further information regarding Care to Learn and how to apply. If you do apply for Care to Learn funding, please also make the College aware as we will need additional documentation from you to process your Care to Learn application. 20 and over

Childcare payments are made directly to the childcare provider, there is a maximum award of £6500 per child per academic year. Childcare is only available for the time you spend in timetabled classes at college. Therefore, over the College holiday periods, we will not pay for your child’s place.

We can only provide assistance for OFSTED registered child minders/nurseries.
