Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship Study Mode: Part Time   |    Course Level: Level 4

Where will this course lead?

This apprenticeship will lead to the achievement of Level 4 APM Project Management Qualification and The Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship. Upon commencement, apprentices may become student members of the Association for Project Management (APM) as the first step of professional membership. Apprentices will be eligible for progression to associate membership upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Full membership can be attained through further experience and professional development.

What will I study?

As part of the apprenticeship, learners will be supported by the attainment of a Level 4 APM Project Management Qualification.

The Level 4 APM Project management Qualification is aimed at those wishing to achieve a broad level of project management knowledge sufficient to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. You will study the full syllabus of the APM Level 4 comprising 12 units including Scope Management, Budgeting, project Life Cycle, Risk Management, project Quality, Schedule & Resource Management and project Procurement.

You may be required to study GCSE in Maths and English depending on your previous achievements.

How will this course be delivered?

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom teaching, practical workshops and independent learning/self- study.

You will attend college for face to face delivery for each unit, delivery schedule will be provided to all apprentices. There are two examination routes for the Level 4 qualification:

A three hour paper where candidates must answer ten from sixteen questions;

OR

For PRINCE2® Registered Practitioners a two hour paper that recognises prior learning. In this paper candidates must answer six from ten questions.

As an apprentice a vast amount of learning takes place 'on the job' through training and the practical application of your skills, knowledge and behaviours.

You will receive 1:1 support and coaching from an allocated assessor who will visit you in the workplace every six to eight weeks.

What qualifications will I get?

Upon successful completion of the gateway and end point assessment you will be awarded Level 4 APM Project management Qualification and The Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship.

How will I be assessed?

Your progress and development will be assessed at regular stages throughout the apprenticeship - this is likely to be a combination of assignments, activities, professional discussions and observations in the workplace.

Prior to the end point assessment there is a requirement to achieve:

- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE equivalent), if not already achieved.

- L4 APM Diploma in Project Management.

The end-point assessment (EPA) consists of 2 distinct assessment methods:

- Presentation supported by portfolio of evidence (33.3%)

- Professional Discussion (66.6%)

Apprentices will be eligible to be put forward for the end-point assessment after a minimum of 12 months (the period is expected typically to vary between 18 and 24 months) provided that they have completed and achieved the Level 4 APM Diploma.

The gateway for this will be an evaluation discussion with the apprentice, to review the portfolio of evidence, led by the employer, which includes the training provider and mentor (where appropriate).

What are the entry requirements?

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher including English & Maths.

Unit re-sits will need to be paid by the apprentices or employer.
