Acting students from Stratford-upon-Avon College have been working hard putting together a performance of a Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth.
The students got the opportunity to perform in front of audiences in matinees and evening shows in the College’s Gordon Vallins Theatre.
Throughout their first term the actors have been encouraged to embody their Shakespearean characters by learning about motivations of each scene and the intentions of the specific lines.
The cast even received a visit from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) earlier in the year to explore the text and characters even further with the experts.
The play was set in a ‘post-modern’ era, with a grungy atmosphere created through set and props, created by our Year 1 and Year 2 Backstage Production Arts students who collaborated with the Acting students on the performance.
The 75-minute performance was filled with fast-paced, choreographed fight scenes, monologues, duologues, and captivating group scenes.
The actors and backstage crew’s hard work paid off and they have created a well-executed, professional piece of theatre and have highlighted their acting skills excellently in this take on Macbeth.
