Education & Childcare students from Stratford-upon-Avon College and Solihull College & University Centre took their learning to great heights recently visiting Blackwell Adventure for a day of zip wires, climbing and laser tag.
Students from the Level 1, Level 2 Level 3 and T-Level courses had the opportunity to go on the excursion to Blackwell Adventure Outdoor Activity Centre to try their hands at a whole host of physical activities.
The students took part in some incredible activities
The trip, as well as being great fun, allowed students to work on team building and develop essential skills related to their sector, including listening, speaking, leadership, teamwork, positivity, aiming high, problem solving and creativity.
The students really appreciated the experience. Molly English detailed what she enjoyed the most: “The crate challenge was my favourite activity, and overall it was a great opportunity to socialize with my peers.”
Izzy Reid commented: “The main thing I enjoyed about the trip was being able to connect with new people and develop deeper bonds with friends. I feel that the right trips can develop team working skills as well as confidence in social skills. There is always something to learn on a trip in a very hands-on, active way which I feel a lot of us benefit from on this course.”
Lecturer, Lucy Upton, commented on why this type of trip is good for the students: “All trips and projects we work on link to units and skills needed for the course. Learners have skills sessions and each week we promote employability skills to bridge the skills gap in the sector. This trip allowed the students to develop the skills they are learning in class in a practical way. We had really positive responses from the students, and they displayed exemplary behaviour. They did us proud!”
