College launches new Accounting course

28th February 2022

Stratford-upon-Avon College is excited to announce it will be launching a brand-new accounting course for school leavers starting in September 2022.

Prospective students can now submit applications to study for the Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting. The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is an internationally recognised and respected qualification. It is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in accountancy, finance and business.

The qualification will prepare students for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration – covering areas such as bookkeeping, basic costing principles and using accounting software. Students can progress to Level 3 on completion or move onto an apprenticeship.

The course can open doors to many different career routes. Every large business needs finance and accounting professionals, so students could end up working in any industry that takes their interest, from fashion or politics through to media and sport. They can work in business, government, education, healthcare and more.

Head of School for Business, Kam Virdee, is excited to be bringing the course to Stratford-upon-Avon College: “Research from our last open day showed a real interest in the subject. The course has also done really well at our partner College, Solihull College & University Centre, with admissions doubling in the last intake.”

Kam highlights the range of skills students can develop on the course: “The course will develop a range of skills including organisation, deadline management, verbal communication, being detail orientated and more. It will also improve methodical problem solving and analytical skills.”

For students who are interested in pursuing this opportunity, Stratford-upon-Avon College will be hosting an Open Event on Wednesday 23rd March from 5.30pm-8pm where prospective students can visit the site and speak to lecturers about the new course.
