An IT student from Stratford-upon-Avon College has proved to be one of its success stories and is now set to progress to university.
Robert Harvey, 18 from Shipston-on-Stour, is completing a two-year IT course this summer. He has had a keen interest in the subject from an early age – “IT was a passion of mine throughout high school and my GCSE IT teacher told me that I had great potential and encouraged me to pursue it as a career” – and chose Stratford for his studies partly on the recommendation of his brother Matthew who was already a student there.
Robert showed great promise in Computer Game Design and Website Development, but particularly enjoyed the course’s animation modules and was undeterred by the hard work and incredible precision and attention to detail required of animators in their work – “I really enjoy a challenge and felt such a sense of achievement when my animation project was completed.”
His time at Stratford developed more than just his IT skills. He credits the course with helping him with time management and teaching him the importance of professionalism and meeting deadlines.
And the potential Robert showed in high school has certainly come to fruition. James Smith, IT lecturer at Stratford-upon-Avon College, commented: “Robert showed exceptional motivation and determination in his studies over the past two years.
Throughout his course, he has demonstrated a solid understanding of cyber security, hardware and software, and has ultimately exceeded his target grade.”
Robert would like to thank James, his fellow students on the course and the College for an amazing two years at Stratford-upon-Avon college.
Armed with the skills and knowledge he has acquired during his time at Stratford, Robert will be progressing to Liverpool John Moores University in September.
