College’s training kitchens chosen for national catering competition

24th June 2019

A national competition to identify the top chef working in the care industry took place at Stratford-upon-Avon College this month.

Taking advantage of the College’s industry-standard catering facilities – including a fully-functioning restaurant and professional kitchens – the National Association of Care Catering held the Care Chef of the Year 2019 finals on campus.

To ensure all competitors and judges were fully fuelled and on their very best competitive form, 15 skilled College Catering students prepared and served a delicious breakfast and lunch, proving that they too can whip up a selection of enticing dishes including pastries, lasagne, curries, and chilli, with a white chocolate mousse for dessert.

Catering lecturer Dave Saul commented “I’m very proud that our facilities were chosen for the Care Chef of the Year competition. This is testament to the quality of the facilities at the College and to the enthusiasm of our students, who are able to operate at an industry level and provide outstanding catering for the event whilst also learning about a very different area within the catering industry.”

Applications for September 2019 entry to our Catering courses are still open.
