Dance students celebrate iconic choreographers

6th January 2025

Dance students from Stratford-upon-Avon College paid tribute to iconic choreographers in their recent show.

‘Icons’ included the works of Michael Jackson, Fred Astaire, Matthew Bourne, Madonna and more. The dancers, with support from their Backstage Production Arts colleagues, performed and choreographed the show inspired by several legendary choreographers.

The performance showcased different dance styles including tap, jazz, hip hop and ballet – all styles that the dancers work on frequently in their classes at college.

The whole show was pure joy. With a mix of group dances, duets and solos, ‘Icons’ showcased the talents of students wonderfully.

The level of skill displayed by the dancers was of the highest quality. It was clear to see that students had worked incredibly hard to put the show together and performed with impressive professionalism.

‘Icons’ wouldn’t have been possible without the work of Year 2 Technical Theatre students who worked closely with the dancers to put the show together. They helped to turn ‘The Space’, a rehearsal room at the college, into a professional looking theatre fit with AV, lights and special effects, which helped immerse the audience.

Well done to all students involved!
