Fashion student offered ambassadorship at Birmingham Royal Ballet

15th April 2025

A Fashion student from Stratford-upon-Avon College has been offered a place on as an ambassador at the Birmingham Royal Ballet company.

Eleanore McElvogue, 17 from Stratford, has recently become a ‘Leap Ambassador’ at the prestigious ballet company – a development programme set up to encourage people to get involved in a career in the arts.

Eleanor, who has an interest in working in costume, was recommended the programme by her college lecturer Louisa Figus. Eleanor commented: “She always knows of opportunities and is constantly recommending them to us. After completing my application, I was invited to an applicant’s day where I was one of ten chosen for the programme.”

Eleanor is gaining vital hands-on experience in costume production: “I can shadow closely along a member of staff as well as partake in group training. I’ve also been able to help with shows like most recently I participated in their production of ‘Cinderella,’ which was cool.”

Eleanor’s college tutor, Louisa Figus, commented: “Eleanor is a highly motivated individual with a passion for costume making. She faces every challenge as an opportunity to develop her skills. Much like we do, Birmingham Royal Ballet recognised what an asset she is. We are so proud of Eleanor!”

Eleanor would like to pursue costume production as a career and even though she is only in her first year she is looking ahead to university courses that will help her achieve her goal.
