Monday, 24 September, 2012

Former Stratford-upon-Avon College Photography student Tim Hunt has been awarded the prestigious Sophie Smoliar Scholarship Photokina by the International Photographic Council (IPC).

As a recent graduate from University College Falmouth in 2010, Tim has a BA in Marine and Natural History Photography and goes on to study an MA in TV Production at the same University. He also studied photography at Stratford-upon-Avon-College Warwickshire for two years, leaving with a triple merit.

Tim said: “My time spent at the College was definitely worth wile. I felt that the two years on the BTEC photography course provided me with the knowledge and confidence to take it to another level. I believe it’s really important to hit the ground running when you leave college in order to really make the most of whatever you decide to do next. I learnt so much in such a short amount of time and being able to work closely and comfortably with such knowledgeable lecturers made it much more enjoyable.”

The IPC/Sophie Smoliar Scholarship awards $1000 to a European Student who majors in photo-imaging with outstanding achievement. It is presented bi-annually in connection with Photokina in Cologne.
