Former student impresses on Chris Evans Breakfast Show

19th January 2021

Singer-songwriter and Stratford-upon-Avon College alumnus Isaac Stuart wowed listeners with his Christmas performance on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show.

Chris Evans had previously played a slowed-down cover that Isaac had done of Staying Alive by The Bee-Gees. Impressed with the self-taught multi-instrumentalist’s take on the song, Isaac was the first person to come to mind when Rick Astley called in sick.

Isaac commented: “My manager called me and said ‘Chris Evans just rang, can you stand in for Rick Astley tomorrow?’ It was crazy! They wanted me to do my single, Staying Alive and two Christmas songs. I only knew Silent Night and so I had to quickly learn Santa Baby.”

The 21-year-old from Banbury, recently released his first single ‘Do You Like It When We Lay Like This?’ which was put on the Virgin Radio playlist and performed recently by Isaac at an empty Wembley Arena.

Whilst playing live on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Isaac’s experience became even more surreal, he explains: “David Walliams was also a guest in the studio, he was really lovely, and then Elton John called him asking who I was, and wanted to know more about me.”

Described as “criminally talented” by Chris Evans, Isaac brought 2020 to close with a bang and with his second single ‘Place For You In My Heart’ set to release at the end of January, it already looks like 2021 is going to be a great year for the gifted musician.
