A former Digital Media Production student from Stratford-upon-Avon College has recently worked on ITV show ‘Deal or No Deal.’
Layla O’Callaghan, who studied Level 3 Digital Media Production at the College, got the deal of a lifetime when she got offered a role on the famous game show.
Layla attended the College between 2019-2021. She knew that Stratford-upon-Avon College was the place for her. She commented: “Stratford is where I felt at home, the facilities, the teaching staff and the College in general was all amazing!” After leaving the College Layla went on to study at the University of Creative Arts, where she received a first-class degree.
Whilst working on Deal or No Deal, Layla oversaw the cast and coordinating them around set. Her education at the College made her feel prepared for stepping on to set, she commented: “Professionalism is super important in these situations and there was a core skill that was taught on the course.”
Layla has been lucky enough to work on several TV projects since leaving college, such as Blankety Blank, Genius Game and Family Fortunes. Her work on these shows allowed her to make vital connections and make a lasting impression on the right people.
Digital Media Production lecturer, Sarah Downing, is proud of what Layla has achieved since leaving the College: “It is brilliant to see that she is beginning her career in the TV industry with access to exciting opportunities. We are proud of Layla and know that she will be an inspiration for our current students.”
Layla had some advice to current students heading into the working world: “Don’t give up, things will be hard, you’ll get there, and things will fall into place. Make contacts and keep them, first impressions really matter, they will remember you.”
