Digital Media Production students from Stratford-upon-Avon College have been given the chance to work alongside the BBC for a short film project.
Level 3 Digital Media Production students were given a rare opportunity to work with BBC Production managers and writers in a writing workshop.
This was an exciting opportunity for the students to learn from the experts and get tips about working in the industry. They were also able to ask questions about how to approach securing jobs in the sector.

Students were tasked with creating a concept for a 5-minute short film. The students pitched their ideas to the BBC, with the winning idea set to be created.
Student Emma Bignell, who was a part of the project commented: “The event was super insightful, and it has provided me with valuable knowledge that I can use to impact my career. Being able to interact with industry professionals was an invaluable experience for me.”

After the workshop, a writer from the BBC will write the script and the group of students will work with the BBC’s production team to shoot their concept.
Isabel Blewitt, who was also part of the project commented: “I want to go into this field, so it was an incredible opportunity for me. It helped me with my confidence as they gave me so many tips on how to write professionally. It helped me so much.”
Whilst on the shoot, students will have the opportunity to work alongside the production crew, learning from them whilst on the job.
Filming will take place in March and the completed product will be screened at a top venue in Birmingham.
