Make Up for Stage & Screen students from Stratford-upon-Avon College were recently treated to a masterclass by an industry expert for their Birds of Paradise project.
Students were visited by Roseanna Velin, a make up and body paint artist who has worked internationally for a range of top brands including Disney Music, The Body Shop, The British Athletics, Giff Gaff, The Voice, L’Oreal, Zara, ASOS, Boots, Converse and more.
With 10 years of professional experience, Roseanna has worked in fashion & beauty, music videos, commercials, brand campaigns, magazine editorials, advertising, T.V and events.
Roseanna began the session by presenting the brief and exploring how the theme of birds of paradise could be applied in a variety of ways, followed by a demonstration.
Roseanna provided a demonstration of her techniques to create a stunning look that could inspire the students
The students then had chance to give it a go themselves and produced some fantastic exotic feathered looks.
Here are examples of work by Rhianna Siviter, Billie Cooper, Maddy Farmer-Keeny and Skye Frost
Students really enjoyed the masterclass. Lexie Brain commented: “It was really good. I don’t think I would have tried some of the ideas I did without Roseanna coming in.” Kodie Butler added: “It’s also been really interesting working with different materials like feathers to create looks.”

Make Up artist and lecturer, Charlotte Hollingworth, was excited to welcome Roseanna back to the College: “It is great to have artists in the students can be inspired by. Roseanna is not only excellent at what she does but also is great working with the students. She has such a broad range of industry experiences too which is great for the students to learn about.”
