Plumbing student has dream career in the pipeline

20th May 2024

A Plumbing student from Stratford-upon-Avon College is successfully building his skills in order to develop his dream business.

Ry Capps, 20 from Solihull, is developing a range of construction related skills to develop his current landscaping business. He is taking steps towards his dream career of developing properties and is excited to add a Level 1 Plumbing qualification to his list of achievements.

Ry is determined to develop his landscaping business and is undertaking a Plumbing qualification at the college

Ry works currently as a landscape gardener and runs his own company: RJ Landscape Solutions. The company specialises in designing, creating, and maintaining gardens. He had his first client at 16 with a focus on gardening, but has been landscaping since he was 18.

With his business becoming more and more successful, Ry realised he had a passion for trade and wanted to develop his company to also cover building work. He comments: “I love trade and want to learn how to do it all! My dream would be to develop properties which would involve both the landscaping and building work.”

Since Ry came to this realisation he has been developing skills across more trades. He wanted to specialise in Plumbing, so decided to go from full time work back to the classroom to develop and hone this skill: “This course has opened my eyes and solidified my passion for this area.”

Ry has enjoyed the experience at college: “I have thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s practical learning, hands-on and in good facilities. Plus, I couldn’t ask for a better teacher! I would 100% recommend this for anyone wanting to develop their Plumbing skills.”

Plumbing lecturer, Mark Ward, is delighted with Ry’s success. He comments: “I really couldn’t be prouder. His commitment is second to none. He is an incredibly hard worker. Plus, as he was older, he has been a great influence on the other learners and was really looked up to. He is ready to take off and I know he will do well.”

Ry will continue developing his skills during a Level 2 qualification and we are certain he is building himself a bright future and burgeoning business!
