Public Services students embark on activity-packed induction week

6th September 2019

Uniformed Public Services students have experienced a fantastic first week at College and been thrown straight into the fun-packed and energetic demands of their course.

A workout at the College’s on-campus gym was followed by a seven-mile hike during which the students’ map reading expertise was put to the test.

Returning to College, there was no time to rest as the learners set up camp, racing to beat the rapidly approaching rain. Having cooked an evening meal, they spent the evening playing football and participating in team building activities – the perfect way to get to know your new course mates.

It was then ‘lights out’ at 11.00pm until they were woken by reveille – sounded by the clash of mess tins and metal spoons – at 6.30am.

The students decamped in good spirits for a 7.30am parade and kit inspection followed by a much-welcomed breakfast in the College’s Oasis Cafe.

Now the students’ camping skills have been assessed, they’re set for the next challenge – a mountaineering expedition to North Wales next month. Stay tuned to find out how they get on.
