A former Sport student from Stratford-upon-Avon College is fighting for a career in Boxing as he takes to the ring this weekend for his second professional fight.
Leo Fanthome, who studied at the College from 2016 to 2018, is fighting in May-hem on Saturday 18th May in a bid to develop his name as a professional Boxer.
From a young age, Leo has been a keen athlete. Described as hyperactive and having lots of energy by his parents, he decided to channel that energy into sport and that’s how Leo’s boxing journey began.
To continue his journey as an athlete, Leo joined the college in 2016 on the Sport course after hearing it widely recommended by friends. He really enjoyed his time at college and comments: “I loved it! Being able to use the great facilities and learning a lot from all the different tutors who were all really good to me meant I had a wonderful time. Plus, the balance between college and training was great, I even won the England Boxing Midland title Light Welterweight whilst at college.”
Following college, Leo’s passion for the sport has not diminished and he has now transitioned into professional boxing and signed with JP Management.
This is his second professional fight and Leo is keen to progress: “I am so excited for the match – I have trained hard for it. It is going to be great.” He hopes to participate in at least five fights in his first year as a professional so is training five or six times a week at DNA Boxing Club in Stirchley.
The match takes place at Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, doors open at 6.45pm.
