A Sport student from Stratford-upon-Avon College is on the road to their ideal career after accepting a place at university to study Sports Therapy.
Grace Ralley, 18 from Moreton-in-Marsh, has been accepted by University of Worcester to study a degree in Sports Therapy, an area she is keen to specialise in.
Grace has always had a passion for Sport, playing Hockey and participating in Athletics. However, due to injury she had to undertake physiotherapy. This introduced her to the world of Physio & Sports Therapy which she found fascinating.
After studying PE at school, she had to decide her next steps – A-Levels or college. She comments: “I realised I had to choose studying one course I loved at college or try and pick extra A-Levels alongside PE to make up my time at sixth form. The college option was definitely the one for me as I wanted to be more specialist.”
She has really enjoyed her time at college, benefiting from the range of learning on the course: “The number of topics we learn is really fulfilling. My favourite area has been learning the theory, especially anatomy and injury management.”
Her time at college has prepared her for her university: “It has pushed me further into the mindset of what I wanted to do as a career and it has prepared me by developing my knowledge. I have learnt so much.”
Grace is hopeful to pursue a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy after completing her undergraduate degree in Sports Therapy.
Sport lecturer, Enrique Cardenas, is proud of Grace’s achievement. He comments: “I am delighted to witness Grace’s progression to a Sports Therapy programme at university. Over the past 12 months Grace has exhibited remarkable resilience and positivity both within and outside the college environment. The incorporation of specific units, such as sports injuries management, into our curriculum has instilled in Grace the confidence to pursue a career in the sports therapy pathway. This underscores the versatility of our course in assisting students to identify and select their future career pathways. It is indeed a pleasure to see our students thrive and make informed decisions about their future.”
