Staff, students and Governors at Stratford-upon-Avon College are celebrating the results of their latest Ofsted Monitoring report.
The recent inspection, which ran from Wednesday 13th to Thursday 14th March and came a few weeks after the one-year anniversary of the College’s merger with Solihull College & University Centre, took the form of an Ofsted monitoring visit to judge the College’s progress since the merger.
The College was assessed on the progress made across five key areas which cover the quality of teaching, the scope of the curriculum, the strength of the management and governance, and the extent to which the college meets the requirements of the community.
Recognising the success of this first post-merger year and the College’s continued commitment to upholding its high standards of provision, the report noted that progress had been made in all areas. The inspectors identified many positive developments and were particularly impressed with the curriculum, which they found to be inclusive, accessible and reflective of the needs of the local business community.
Lindsey Stewart, Chief Operating Officer of Stratford-upon-Avon College, commented: “I am delighted with this latest Ofsted report, which is testament to the skill and dedication of the College staff, to the students’ strong work ethic, and in particular to the improvements which the merger with Solihull College & University Centre has made possible. I am tremendously proud of our achievements, but we are in no way resting on our laurels. Our aim is to gain ‘Outstanding’ status and, with the benefits of our association with our merger partner, I am certain that we are well on our way to achieving this.”
John Callaghan, College Principal, commented: “We have secured an £8.25 million campus investment for a wide-ranging staged refurbishment over the next four years. Developments will guarantee better services for both students and staff and will include the provision of superior specialist learning environments in all curriculum areas, ensuring that we are the first choice for learners throughout Warwickshire.”
