An Art & Design student from Stratford-upon-Avon College will begin her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art at the world-renowned arts & design college Central Saint Martins in September.
Eleanor Jones, 19 from Stratford, has just completed her level 4 foundation course in Art & Design at Stratford-upon-Avon College. She came to the College after completing A-level. She says: “I wanted to progress to do Fine Art at University and they generally require completion of a foundation course. Stratford has such a great reputation, and I knew people who had been here and progressed onto doing different things.”
Eleanor exhibited her work in the final Art Show at the College
Eleanor became interested in Art from a very young age, influenced by her artist dad, and knew this was the career for her, she comments: “Art allows me to use different parts of my brain and offers a nice escape from other pressures in life.”
Immersing herself in various projects at College, Eleanor was able to explore her skill further. She explains: “Coming to the college I was able to really push my boundaries, I needed this year to do everything else and try out everything else. There is great structure at the college and from the start we were made to push ourselves out of our comfort zone, so throughout rest of year I wasn’t scared to do it.”
Eleanor employed a positive attitude and started looking at top art colleges earlier on in the year: “I thought I have nothing to lose so I’m just going to go for it and then I went through a hard interview process with St Martins and got accepted! It was my first choice and I’d always heard of it because of its great reputation.”
